Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best way to build up a chassis?

First begin by fastening the side panels to the bottom panel, with the bottom panel turned upside down. Don't tighten the screws fully, leave one full turn loose. Next attach the rear panel and the top panel, again leaving the screws slightly loose. Now secure the face panel to the face panel bracket, using the #6-32 bolts. Fit the face panel groves over the panel edges and secure the bracket with the last 6 screws. Tighten the screws that were left loose and then remove the face panel and bracket. Tighten the #6-32 bolts again using a hex drive socket and secure the face panel to the chassis. When installing the knobs, use a small piece of scotch, or magic tape around the 6mm shaft, then secure by tightening the #6-32 set screw.

How can I remove the numbered silkscreen inputs?

Rub the number away gradually using a sugar cube. The sugar cube will not scratch the anodized aluminum, but is abrasive enough to easily remove the silkscreen. Wipe away the granules and repeat until all of the paint is removed. Clean the aluminum by wiping with a wet sponge and a small amount of detergent.

Which potentiometers and switches are compatible?

Noble and blue Alps potentiometers have been tested, and can mount directly to the face panel bracket. Potentiometers or switches with very short shaft lengths, ¼" or less, are not compatible with our knobs and must be used in combination with a shaft extension kit. Our face panels were designed to work specifically with Elma switches, but they will also work with any switch with 30 degrees of movement between contacts.

When are your chassis shipped?
